For Philadelphia, which has now dropped four straight games, Felix Sandstrom stopped 22 shots while James van Riemsdyk and Cam York scored.
The Flyers scored the sole goal of the first period despite Colorado having a larger advantage in shots on goal (10-8). Francouz was hit by a shot from York that landed in the goal crease. At 12:52, York poked it in with a backhander for his first goal of the year after Toews had batted it away.

Up to the halfway point of the second period, the score remained 1-0. Compher took the puck into the Philadelphia zone and fired it in for his second goal of the year.
On their first power play, the Flyers had an opportunity to grab the lead, but Colorado scored again while they were shorthanded. From the Avalanche blueline, Erik Johnson chipped the puck into the Philadelphia zone. At 15:04 of the second period, Lehkonen outran York, moved it forward, and then wristed a shot by Sandstrom for his eighth goal of the year.
In the third, the Flyers had numerous opportunities to tie the game, but Colorado was able to widen their lead. After a struggle for possession behind the net, Lehkonen passed the puck to Compher in the left circle. At 11:33. He collected it and scored his fourth goal of the year by beating. Sandstrom with a shot high to the far side.
With 4:02 remaining, Sandstrom substituted a skater. And Philadelphia pulled within one when van Riemsdyk deflected Travis Konecny’s slot shot at 16:22. He had scored four times this year.
The Flyers were unable to score the equaliser even after Sandstrom went back to the bench for the extra skater.
