The Bruins smashed the record of 66 set by the 1995–96 Red Wings and matched by the 2018–19 Lightning by winning 50 games in just 64. Depending on the results of other games later on Saturday, the Bruins may secure their place in the playoffs for the first time this season.

Boston overcame a two-goal deficit thanks to goals from Hampus Lindholm and Patrice Bergeron, while Linus Ullmark stopped 30 shots. Prior to Thursday’s loss to Edmonton, the Bruins had won 10 straight games.
Detroit defeated Chicago on Thursday, ending a six-game losing streak with to Magnus Hellberg’s 35 saves. In the second minute of the first session, shorthand goals from Alex Chiasson and Andrew Copp were score.
Before the game had even started, they gave the Red Wings a 2-0 lead. But, the Bruins fought back with an impressive second period in which they had the first 12 shots on goal and an overall advantage of 18-2 in shots.
As Lindholm scored seven minutes into the second period, it seemed as though the Red Wings recovered quickly. Nevertheless, Dylan Larkin’s goal was disallowed because he had just knocked the stick from of David Krejci’s hands.
Instead, on a power play, Bergeron knotted it by intercepting a pass from Jake DeBrusk and passing it through Hellberg’s legs. It remained that way until Hathaway gave Boston its first lead of the game by gathering a rebound with his backhand and putting it behind the goalie.
Hathaway, who came to Boston from the Washington Capitals before the trade deadline, scored his first goal for the Bruins.
