BUFFALO Sabres vs TORONTO Maple Leafs NHL 13 March 2023. On Monday night, the visiting Buffalo Sabres rallied to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 thanks to two goals from Alex Tuch in the third period.
The Sabres, who trailed 2-0 with just over five minutes remaining in the second period, scored a goal and an assist from Dylan Cozens. Buffalo won for the second time in eight games, and Jack Quinn added a goal.

JJ Peterka and Owen Power each added two assists. For the victory, Craig Anderson blocked 25 shots.
For the Maple Leafs, who had won their previous two games, Auston Matthews contributed a goal and two assists. In addition to Mitchell Marner’s two assists, William Nylander and Calle Jarnkrok also scored. Matt Murray made 25 saves while making his second consecutive start.
The first period was mostly under the control of the Maple Leafs, who outshot the opposition 12-3.
At 1:11 of the second quarter, Matthews scored his 31st goal of the season. Following a two-on-one rush by Marner and Alexander Kerfoot, who both received assists, he tipped in the rebound.
At 4:13 of the second period, Jarnkrok scored his 15th goal of the year with a 28-foot wrist shot through the five-hole.
At 14:58 in the second period, Quinn was at the edge of the crease when he batted in a puck out of the air for his 13th goal of the year. Peterka had just passed from behind the net when it happened.
After two periods, Buffalo had a 20-15 advantage in shots on goal.
At 11:19 of the third period, Tuch used a power play to score his 30th goal of the year from 17 feet away. Nylander was off for high-sticking.
Later in the period, when two Toronto skaters broke in alone, Anderson made a crucial save.
At 18:58 in the third, Nylander scored his 35th goal to reduce the deficit to one.
Yet, after winning the first two encounters between the teams this season, Toronto was unable to score the equaliser.
