Late in the second, Adam Erne gave Detroit a four-goal advantage. For the Red Wings, Ville Husso finished with 31 saves.

Detroit won for just the second time in nine games the day after falling 3-2 at Boston.
The Bruins, who had won 11 of their previous 12, saw Swayman stop 21 shots.

In a breakaway, Larkin had a chance to restore a three-goal advantage. He shot the puck between Swayman’s pads, but it bounced off the left post instead. David Pastrnak scored shortly after to reduce the margin to one goal.
Boston defeated Detroit on Saturday, breaking the previous mark for the fewest games needed to reach 50 victories. The previous record, held by the 1995–1996 Red Wings and 2018–19 Tampa Bay Lightning, was surpassed by the Bruins by two games when they reached the milestone in their 64th game.
Coach Derek Lalonde of the Red Wings commented, “I thought our six periods as a whole were terrific. “That’s a really good team, without a doubt. They may go down as one of the greatest teams in league history, but we never gave up during these six quarters.
